BEIJING, China – May 28, 2008 – CommScope Enterprise Solutions, a division of CommScope, Inc. (NYSE:CTV), in keeping with its dedication to provide its Chinese customers with intelligent network infrastructure solutions and services, today announced its inclusion in phase II of the CCTV New Site Construction and Development Program at a press conference held in Beijing.  In addition, the company discussed plans to showcase its live 10GBASE-T technology demonstration at the Datacenter Dynamics Show in Shanghai on May 30 – marking the demo’s debut in China.


CommScope won the cabling contract for the TVCC (Television Cultural Center), phase I of CCTV’s new site program in 2007. The TVCC will serve as the TV broadcasting and news center for the upcoming 2008 Olympic Games. When determining which partner to choose for phase II of the new site, CCTV turned to CommScope’s intelligent network infrastructure solutions once again, based on the success of the first implementation.

The 159m high TVCC building has a 60,000 square meter total floor area and incorporates CommScope’s advanced SYSTIMAX® iPatch® intelligent infrastructure solution, providing IT personnel with an efficient means of managing the network physical layer. In addition, this provision offers enhanced security measures. Other CommScope solutions used in this installation are the low smoke zero halogen (LSZH), GigaSPEED XL® Solution, LazrSPEED® and TeraSPEED® Solutions.


At the press conference, CommScope also announced plans to unveil the first live demonstration of 10GBASE-T technology in China. The demonstration runs Intel’s 10GbE Server Adapter and Cisco’s 10GbE Catalyst Switch over the SYSTIMAX GigaSPEED X10D® Cat6A UTP infrastructure solution to showcase the full capability of 10Gb/s in the network. The SYSTIMAX GigaSPEED X10D solution was engineered by CommScope Labs to exceed industry standards for Category 6A and Class EA cabling.
