Copper Clad Steel is produced by metallurgically bonding copper to a steel wire core. CommScope
produces 21%, 30%, and 40% conductivity low carbon steel. Solid cladding yields
a superior product that is more dense and ductile when compared to electroplated
deposits. Superior practice and steel core selection allow for extreme cold
work without requiring additional heat treatment reaching area reductions consistently
above 98.5%. The coating is oxygen free copper. The thickness remains in the
same ratio to the cross-section as the wire is drawn. CCS meets or exceeds the
requirements for ASTM B-869, ASTM B-452, ASTM B-227, and ASTM B-910.
Bimetal
products are produced at the CommScope facility in Statesville, North Carolina.
This facility is ISO 9001 and ISO 14000 registered.
