RF Booster Systems

80% of the worlds indoor distributed antenna systems are either entirely passive or utilize boosters. Andrew has long been in the market and is very competitive in the optical distribution area (a direct competitor with passive distribution). These systems are used for very large area coverage due to the low loss nature of optics. Andrew also has a complete line of RF Repeaters which, along with base stations, are used to feed both active and passive systems. These systems are typically smaller when they are entirely passive due to the high loss nature of coaxial cable.

ACBx33-LC Cable Booster
ACBx33-LC Cable BoosterThe Andrew Cable Booster (ACB) is a bi-directional, multi-carrier amplifier used to compensate for RF loss in passive Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS).

The ACB from size, price, power consumption, setup, and remote control is state-of-the art. Besides, Andrews Cable Booster is favorably positioned in both cost and quality competitive markets like Asia and Western Europe.
Andrews ACB is designed to meet the mid to large buildings in the most cost effective manor possible. This solution will become more and more viable due to two factors.

  1. Coaxial cable requires less technical skill to deploy. As more indoor coverage requirements occur in the developing regions of the world, there is more and more need for indoor boosters vs. fiber optics.
  2. As higher and higher frequency bands are used, loss from coaxial cable increases and as more complex modulations schemes are developed for high speed access, greater signals strength is mandatory.

Both factors drive the need for enhancement devices such as boosters, particularly for systems that were previously installed and designed for lower frequencies (800-900 MHz).

ACBx33-LC Advantages:

  • ACBx33-LC Cabinet
    ACBx33-LC Cabinet
Designed for enhancing of signals from multiple base stations for indoor Distribution Antenna Systems (DAS)
  • Reduced dropped calls and lower mobile transmission power
  • Very high cost savings and almost no service and maintenance costs (MTBF > 400.000 hours)
  • Ideal for migration from 2G to 3G (e.g. from GSM to EDGE where a higher signal strength is mandatory)
  • Multi-technology, multi-carrier across the entire band (i.e. UMTS900 and GSM900 can be transmitted simultaneously with 2W composite)
  • Remote monitoring via data-interface
  • 3GPP, GSM05.05, and FCC approved
  • Wall and ceiling mounting possible
  • Passively cooled
  • +33 dBm output power
  • Low prize AND state-of-the-art solution

Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)
Andrew's Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) provides high quality ac power for electronic equipment loads, especially for outside repeater systems.

  • Continuity of electrical power for at least 20 minutes up to 8 hours, within the defined limits and without interruption, when commercial ac source fails or degrades from overload, surges, or spikes
  • Hot swap battery replacement for easy, fast maintenance
