BEIJING, Nov 19, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Beijing's latest landmark building
and the workplace for implementation and management of the international environmental
protection treaty in China is supported by an indoor wireless communications
network featuring HELIAX(R) FXL aluminum transmission line cable from Andrew,
the CommScope, Inc. division that is a global leader in wireless communications
products and systems.
Deployment of HELIAX FXL, part of the new HELIAX 2.0 family of wireless transmission
line systems from Andrew, supports multi-operator second- and third-generation
wireless coverage for high quality and reliable connectivity in the environmentally-aware
Ministry of Environmental Protection Building.
The environmental ministry building is an international cooperation project
financed by The World Bank, Italy and other international government sources,
aiming to strengthen China's capacity for implementing the global environmental
protection treaty. Work by Chinese and Italian designers to make the structure
a showcase of sustainable development through ecology, energy saving and environmental
protection that features environmentally-friendly uses of building materials,
natural lighting, air conditioning and solar utilization, among others.
"The size and flexibility of HELIAX FXL aluminum not only makes it ideal
for the most demanding expectations in wireless performance, it also helps support
the ecological goals of this important building project through ease of installation
and environmentally-friendly attributes," said Ben Cardwell, vice president
of Sales and Marketing, Andrew Asia Pacific. "Compared to use of alternative
metals, the use of lighter-weight aluminum in HELIAX FXL saves power and fuel
during manufacturing and transportation and is fully ROHS (Restriction of Hazardous
Substances) compliant. Andrew remains committed to environmental protection
through research, development and manufacturing efforts that help customers
implement energy-saving and energy-efficient solutions for their networks."
HELIAX FXL is part of Andrew's new HELIAX 2.0 family of wireless transmission
line systems from Andrew, which features a single, multi-faceted connector,
the EZfit(R) Series universal connector, for two prominent products--HELIAX
FXL Series aluminum cables and HELIAX AVA Series copper cables. Both cables
have proven track records in helping limit intermodulation distortion (IMD),
the unwanted noise that weakens a radio network's performance, and meet different
customer application needs. With one connector that works on both cables, customers
can avoid inventory confusion and deployment delays.
Andrew has long played a significant role in the Chinese market and recently
provided solutions for numerous significant projects such as National Center
for the Performing Arts, Daqin Railway, Beijing Subway and Shanghai Metro. Andrew's
long history of providing advanced wireless infrastructure solutions in China
began in the early 1970s and has led to its establishment of solid, long term
cooperative relationships with the major Chinese operators and OEMs. The company's
local manufacturing and research and development facilities provide extensive
in-country capabilities for product design and production, a key factor in development
of world-class products and on-time deliveries to Chinese customers.
